October 22 — Birthday of Lev Ivanovich Yashin

October 22 marks the 97th anniversary of the birth of the great goalkeeper Lev Ivanovich Yashin — a legend and symbol of Dinamo football club. The name of this outstanding athlete is forever inscribed in the history of world football.

Lev Ivanovich Yashin is the only goalkeeper to win the prestigious Ballon d'Or award (Ballon d'Or 63). His devotion to his home club is expressed in the motto "Only Yashin — only Dinamo!" He played wearing number one in a black sweater with the letter "D" on his chest, earning recognition among contemporaries and the press as the "goalkeeper of the world team", the "Black Spider" and the "Black Panther", as well as the title of 1956 Olympic champion.

Lev Yashin's mastery, his will to win, modesty and incredible hard work changed the perception of goalkeeping art. To this day, his play, attitude to sport and the words "I am happy that the game went well" remain an example and inspiration for new generations of footballers and fans.
