The Cloth Peddler

According to Eastern customs, a groom could not see his bride before the wedding. The young merchant Asker wants to marry and, on his friend Suleyman’s advice, disguises himself as an arshin-malchi, a street seller. In this guise, he can enter courtyards and see the faces of prospective brides before choosing a wife.

This musical performance is staged by the State Musical Comedy (Operetta) Theatre of Uzbekistan.
