State Museum of the History of Culture of Uzbekistan

The State Museum of the History of Culture of Uzbekistan in Samarkand traces its origins to 1874 and officially opened on 21 July 1896. It now serves as the main museum of the Samarkand State Museum-Reserve.

Its exhibitions cover Uzbekistan’s independence and its place at the crossroads of world cultures, the history of writing in Central Asia, blacksmithing and artistic metalwork, visual art, traditional clothing, embroidery and jewelry. One exhibition is devoted to the history of research into the mausoleum of Amir Temur. The museum is at 148 Mirzo Ulugbek Street.
