Bibikhanim Mausoleum

Bibikhanim Mausoleum stands on the eastern side of the Jame Mosque of Amir Temur in Samarkand. It is associated with Saraymulkhanim-Bibikhanim, Amir Temur’s wife. The mausoleum has a two-level internal structure, with a treasury below and a shrine above. Its walls were decorated with multicoloured tiles, patterns and verses from the Quran.

The history of the monument is recorded in the diaries of Ruy Gonzales de Clavijo and in materials from archaeological excavations and studies of the tombs. The description also refers to the work of Yahya Gulyamov, S. A. Lapin, I. Mrachkovsky and M. Gerasimov.
